The Clubhouse as a Model for Vocational and Community Reentry

Abstract:
The Clubhouse Model originated as a peer support approach for psychiatric inpatients and proved highly effective in helping members deal with the challenges of coping with mental illness. It was first adapted by and for TBI survivors in the late 1980s. Preliminary clinical and cost efficacy of the Clubhouse model for vocational and community reentry following TBI has been demonstrated. Research is needed to determine variables associated with success of TBI survivors in the Clubhouse program
