Archived Project ID# 239 of the TBINDC Registry
Demonstration of a multispecialty clinic for persons with TBI and seizures.

Abstract:
Models for coordinated provision of medical services for persons with brain injury and subsequent seizures have not been described. While most patients with seizures can achieve satisfactory control with presently available anti-epileptic drugs, some may manifest frequent PTS recurrence. Given this challenge, the current project seeks to demonstrate a multidisciplinary follow-up clinic that will: (a) facilitate coordinated care for individuals with TBI and seizures, (b) address education of patients, family, and caregivers regarding “controllable” recurrence risk factors, and (c) study the natural history of PTS and its impact on functional outcome and subjective well-being.
