| Gait and balance disturbance in persons with good recovery after TBI | ||
| Abstract: Many individuals who have suffered even a mild TBI and complain of instability that may not be apparent to an observer have objective finding to support their complaints. In addition, the findings imply that trauma (e.g., by displacement of the canaliths and perhaps injury to the peripheral vestibular system (as evidenced by the caloric testing results) is a frequent cause for these deficits and that a significant fraction of these subjects (3/10 in our study) will have an easily rectifiable cause of their complaints. Vestibular testing in patients with even subtlest complaints of imbalance following TBI is warranted.
